Catherine Hardwicke i en intedjuv om "livet-efter-twilight"
LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) - With last year's surprise box office smash hit "Twilight," Catherine Hardwicke had the biggest U.S. opening weekend ever, $69.6 million, for a female director of a Hollywood movie.
Among her follow-up projects, she has been picked to reteam with her "Lords of Dogtown" star Emile Hirsch on what has been called a supernatural version of "Hamlet" at a liberal arts college. It is being developed by Overture Films.
Hardwicke, whose other films includes teen coming of age tale "Thirteen" and biblical drama "The Nativity Story" spoke to Reuters about connecting with teenagers and life after "Twilight."
Q: Your previous films centered on vampires, skateboarders, biblical figures and students. The common denominator is the main characters are all teenagers. Why is that?
A: "It's definitely a time in everybody's life that's extremely memorable, painful and exiting. It's one of our most dramatic times where we suddenly grow breasts or hair on our chest. We are able to kiss a boy or a girl and drive a car, drink and figure out who we are as a person and where we fit in the world. Great dramatic material happens in a coming of age story and there are so many possibilities. Plus teenagers are also the people who will actually get up off their couches and go to a movie theater."
Q: You obviously have a knack for dealing with teens.
A: "I respect all the teenagers I work with and feel that everything they have to say is just as valuable as anything I have to say. My first movie was written with a 13-year-old girl (Nikki Reed on "Thirteen"). It was about her life so she knew more about that than I did. We can learn from everybody."
Q: You must become like a surrogate mother to them, no?
A: "Well Nikki is kind of like my fake adopted daughter and so is Sarah Blakely-Cartwright, who is in all my movies in smaller parts. When they were teenagers, they'd hang out with me, we'd do slumber parties and surf camps. One of my nephews lives with me in one of my back (apartment) units right now and my nieces lived there too. I always say, "Whoever needs a place can come stay with me.' I like the open door policy.
Q: Are you like a big kid yourself?
A: "I hope I haven't grown up. The cliche for all artists is that you don't want to lose that child inside. I think when you get sedentary and set in your ways you can lose a lot of that spontaneity and creativity. I hope I'm holding on to that. I live in (Los Angeles beachside community) Venice, I surf on the weekends, I ride my bike and try to be in an active world where people around me are of all ages and all economic levels."
Q: "Twilight" cost $37 million and made nearly $382 million worldwide. Do you feel pressure to top yourself?
A: "I don't think that's possible, and I don't think that's a healthy way to think. "Twilight" was a phenomenon -- the stars just aligned on that film. Thank God (director) Ridley Scott didn't stop after "Blade Runner." He made "Thelma and Louise" and "Gladiator" and a million other interesting movies. I still want to make other good films that won't lose money."
Q: Do you have a process you go by when it comes to developing projects?
A: "I'll literally pay three Hollywood readers who don't know me to read my scripts under the radar and give cold comments. And at the early screenings of my movies, I'll hand out questionnaires that can be filled out anonymously so people can be brutally honest because to your face they won't be. I'll take the papers home, read them by myself, cry and go 'My God, that was the coolest scene and everybody hates it!' But that's fine because my goal is to always make it better."
Q: How have things changed for you since "Twilight"?
A: "Right now I can say in a meeting: 'Well on 'Twilight' this is how we did it and this is how we made it work.' And people go, 'Oh wow, that movie made money.' They listen to me a little bit more than before."

Intedjuv med Jackson's band 100' monkeys
här är ett uttrag men för att läsa alltihopa som också är källan klicka Här
To feed the elephant in the room, Jackson, can you tease anything about “New Moon” for the yearning “Twilight” fans out there?
Jackson: It’s gonna be raging…action-packed, more steamy romance. You get to see a lot more crazy stuff happening. We went deeper into the world now, and it’s gonna be a fun thrill ride for everyone.
The 100 Monkeys have performed with Rob Pattinson in the past. Any chance that’ll be a recurring collaboration?
Jackson: Well, I mean, Rob’s a busy guy…(laughs) We’ve had a few chances to play with him. He’s an awesome musician.
How has “Twilight” mania affected the band’s popularity?
Jackson: It’s definitely gotten us some attention, but I think the main thing is our lives shows. People get to –
Jared: – escape into a fun land. Enjoy good music.
Jackson: Yeah, we like to have a good time. That’s what we’re always trying to do – play music for as many people as possible.
Jared: Hopefully, they come in ready to rock out and have some fun. That’s all you can expect.
Ben G: If you scream loud enough, we’ll make up a song that you decide what it’s called. Things like guitar picks and sweat.
Jackson: We like to give things away a lot on stage.
Jared: Sometimes we bring monkeys and throw them into the crowd.

Intedjuv med Christopher Heyerdahl (Marcus)
It's perhaps one of the highest-profile roles for the versatile Canadian actor, who is known to fans of Syfy's Sanctuary, Stargate Atlantis and dozens of films and TV shows.
"Well, it's a little independent film I'm helping out with," the good-natured Heyerdahl said with a chuckle and tongue firmly in cheek. "This guy, poor old Marcus, is a 3,000-odd-years-old vampire who has spent at least the last 2,000 of it with a broken heart. Really, one of the main reasons to play that character and have anything to do with that series is my niece, who is absolutely obsessed with this series of books. To see how it has had such an effect on the teenage female community throughout the world is amazing."
"He's one of the oldest vampires on the planet, and who doesn't want to play a 3,000-year-old vampire?" Heyerdahl said. "The cast that I get to work with, like Michael Sheen. ... We had so much fun goofing off together. It was an absolute hoot. Director Chris Weitz's version for this piece is like a Renaissance painting. The images were absolutely beautiful, and the character is such a tragic old fellow." (Possible spoilers ahead!)
"Yeah, they do their best to suck the life out of you, but certainly nothing compared to any of those past prosthetics," Heyerdahl said. "From that perspective, it was pretty easy. The looks they are getting in this film are absolutely fantastic. Everyone looks gorgeous and deliciously lifeless."

Enjoy!
-When The Cullen's are in the Kitchen making Italiano for Bella, Rose is holding out a crystal bowl that Emmett has filled. But when Edward tells them Bella has already eaten, just before Rose shatters the bowl, the bowl is half empty and only a few pieces of lettuce fall to the floor amongst the shards of crystal.
-When Bella pulls up in her truck for her first day at Forks High, as the camera pans from her truck as she parks it into shot, you can see the camera and boom reflected in the triangular window.
-When Bella and Charlie are sitting in the diner near the beginning of the film, the items/bottles on the table move themselves between shots, and as Waylon walks away from the table, the liquid in Bella's glass disappears in one shot.
-In the baseball scene, Rosalie slides into home and her pants are dirty. The next time she's up to bat, her pants are clean.
-In the scene when Edward and Billy pass each other in their cars and glare at each other, as Edward is pulling away in this shot you can catch a glimpse of the tops of the crews heads reflected in his back window.
-During the ballet studio scene, when Alice is wrapping her belt around Bella's leg, you can catch a glimpse of a microphone on the right corner of the screen.
-In the hospital after the car accident, we are first introduced to Carlisle. If you look at his face you can see where the white face makeup doesn't meet his hairline. Patches without makeup can be seen.
-During the hospital scene, when Edward is "sleeping," his head goes from from leaning on one shoulder to suddenly on the other shoulder in the very next shot.
-When Waylon is on the boat just before he hears the growling noise, between shots a mysterious white object appears on the boat, next to him and his bottle of whiskey.
-After Edward runs Bella up the mountain, he is trying to explain to her that he is dangerous. They are facing each other and Edwards says, "I've Killed Before." Bella says, "It doesn't matter." The camera then spans around them and Edward is moving his mouth, but there is no audio.
-In the cafeteria, when Bella sits for the first time with Angela, Jessica, Mike and Eric she has her arms crossed. When Angela takes her picture Bella's arms are unfolded. Then the shot changes and her arms are crossed again.
- When Alice asks Bella if she'll be riding with the Cullens, Edward says the bus is full and steps inside, but when the camera faces Alice, Edward steps inside again.
Det får vara allt för idag!!
