Ny intevju med Chaske Spencer!

In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Chaske Spencer plays the leader of the wolf pack, Sam Uley. And off the set, the 35-year-old star takes his role as protector very seriously.

Spencer told Parade.com that he not only plays big brother to Taylor Lautner, he’s also looking out for co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as they fend off tabloid rumors.

Being a part of a worldwide phenomenon.
”You never really get used to it. If you start getting used to it, you’re in trouble. I do the best I can.”

Laughing off the rumors and gossip.
”A lot of it is bull–. It’s really surprising that what you put on paper, people will believe. And 99% of that is false. I was really surprised about how much of that goes on. I was Joe Citizen before this came along. But when you start to deal with stuff like that, you just have to laugh at it. And on the set, there’s this huge bubble and nothing can really touch you. And you can kind of tune everything out. Then you leave the set and come out into the world and you’re apart of this huge franchise movie.”

Sticking up for co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
”They have a lot of heat on them. They’re in a world of their own. We get in the tabloids, but not even close to what Rob and Kristen get. And from what I see, they handle it really well and I think people should cut them some slack because they’re very young and just trying to get through this.”

Playing big brother to Taylor Lautner and the rest of the wolf pack.
”He’s a good kid. Well, he’s not a kid anymore, he’s a man! He’s a good, young man. He’s very well-spoken, very polite, very humble. And he’s been able to maintain that throughout this whole phenomenon. And that says a lot about him. I’m very protective of all of them and I try to help make sure they’re making the right decisions and maintaining a level head throughout all this.”

Bonding through the many shirtless moments.
”It never really is comfortable, especially with the harsh elements. We were out filming one day and it was super cold. I think we had a bonding experience — me and the wolf guys. We hid behind a tree before a take and we huddled together to keep warm. We knew right then there was no turning back. We were brothers at that point!”

Eclipse isn’t just a chick flick.
”The guys should definitely go check this out. It’s a lot darker, more action and you have the love story in there as well. It’s a really good movie.”

How his Native American heritage played into the role.
”My background is Sioux, up in Montana. We get to bring some culture to the table in the film, but in the end it really doesn’t matter, which I like. It’s more that these people happen to be Native American. It’s wonderful that pop culture has taken on this view of Native Americans in this story and I’m really proud of that.”

Let’s hear it for the fans.
”Twilight fans are great. They’re very loyal and protective of us. Without them, there would be no Twilight. The fans are the key to this whole thing.”

About those Twi-moms…
”The moms give us mad love. It’s a little different, but overall they help give us a career. The moms are great, they’re just a little more intense!”

His biggest fan moment.
”Probably shaking Tom Cruise’s hand at the MTV Movie Awards this year. That was very surreal.”

When the cameras stop rolling, he’s still there for his wolf brothers.
”I’m really tight with my wolf pack. They’re all good people and it’s good to talk to one another about this whole thing because we’re all going through it and we can use each other for support. It’s like an instant family. We go through the same things families do. We love each other some days and some days we don’t want to be around each other, but it’s all love in the end.”
