Folk får aldrig nog med att försöka så sin del av den blodtäckta halsen av The Twilight Saga, och en av dem i gruppen "folk" är Flynn Meany som gjort en mindre parodi av Twilight.
Obekväm och allergisk mot solen, Finbar Framework sexton år gammal, får aldrig flickan. Men när han inser att alla elever i sin skola är besatta av en romantisk roman av blodtörstiga vampyrer, Beslutar Finbar att djärvt gå där ingen vettig människa har gått före, blir en vampyr, som inte suger blod . Med sin melankoliska och dess märkliga blekhet, är Finbar förvånansvärt lätt att låtsas vara något som är paranormalt. Men när han möter den flicka han kan vara sig själv, upptäcker att livet som en pseudo-vampyr är mer komplicerad än väntat. Denna första roman är hysteriskt kul för den som tror att ibland de goda, skarpa tänder eller glansig hy kan få flickan.

What first inspired you to come up with the idea for Bloodthirsty?
I was so amazed by the dichotomy between the usual teen dreamboat and the vampire. Whether it’s a real high school or a 90’s sitcom, the popular guy has surfer hair and great abs, he’s always taking his shirt off—and he’s usually a jerk. A vampire is polite, pale and scrawny—but he always gets the girl! It struck me that someone somewhere—someone without a tan or any Varsity letters-- must be able to take advantage of this. And then Finbar Frame started to take shape in my head.
Why do you think so many teenage girls dream of dating vampires?
Well, I guess it’s a pretty rebellious act to make out with a guy who wants to suck your blood! They’ve definitely got the bad boy, piss-your-parents-off thing going on. For me personally though, the vampire is really passionate and protective. Life with a vampire is lived on such an intense, romantic, life-or-death plane. Real guys—especially teenage boys—seem completely apathetic in comparison.
Who is your favorite pop culture vampire (books, movies, and TV all count)?
I love Eric from True Blood! He’s a thousand-year-old Viking, which is awesome in itself. But he’s so mysterious. One minute you think he has human emotions, then he turns around and betrays you. You can never completely figure him out.
Why did you decide to tell Bloodthirsty from the perspective of a high school boy?
When I think of the vampire craze, I picture these crazed crowds of teenage girls (usually screaming “Team Edward!” or, ya know, the inferior one). I wanted to create a male hero to harness all the energy of these girls—not only to use that to his own advantage, but to attempt to give the girls what they want (or the closest possibility). As much as I was a writer standing back, observing the pop-culture world and shaking my head at this trend, I wanted my narrator to stand back, observe this world and be doubly confused because not only does he not understand vampires, he doesn’t understand girls.
What vampire ability do you most covet?
Well, looking twenty-two forever would be nice, but… I would love a legitimate excuse to stay up all night and sleep until 2 p.m. I do it anyway, but now people call me lazy.
