Hannah Dakota Fanning är född 23 februari 1994, och hon är äldst av två döttrar. Hennes yngre syster heter Elle. Hon började sin karriär som sexåring med reklamfilmer och olika statistrollar, och hennes storfilmsdebut kom med filmen I Am Sam år 2001.
